Put simply, Mindfulness is the act of being aware of "right now". It's about being aware of your thoughts, feelings, sensations, and your physical surroundings. It eliminates worrying about the future and lets you forget about the past, allowing you to concentrate on the right now.
If the English language had a direct translation of the Danish word hygge I think it would be "aaaagghhhhh" followed by a warm mug of cocoa and sinking into a huge armchair.
